Program overview

The Facility Maintenance Training Program is a 14-week, hands-on course designed to build technical skills, workplace safety knowledge, and job readiness for residential and commercial property maintenance roles. Students learn through in-person instruction, interactive online modules, and guided practice in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC fundamentals.
The program ends with a job readiness workshop focused on resumes, mock interviews, and employment resources.

What You’ll Be Able To Do By Graduation

  • Use basic tools safely (plumbing, electrical, HVAC)

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks

  • Follow OSHA-compliant safety practices on job sites

  • Read simple wiring diagrams, use a multimeter, and troubleshoot basic issues

Curriculum overview

Tool Safety & Equipment

Learn how to safely identify and use essential tools used in facility maintenance, including tools for plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems. Students will practice using both hand tools and basic power tools.

Maintenance Skills

Gain the ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks such as fixing fixtures, diagnosing minor issues, and maintaining building systems in residential and commercial facilities.

Follow Job Site Safety Standards

 

Understand OSHA-aligned safety practices, hazard awareness, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to work safely on maintenance job sites.

 

Electrical Troubleshooting

 

Learn how to read simple wiring diagrams, use a multimeter, test outlets and circuits, and troubleshoot basic electrical problems commonly found in buildings.

 

Job Readiness

 

Develop the professional skills needed to enter the workforce, including creating a resume, completing job applications, and participating in mock interviews.
